Come and meet our Orthodontists in Guildford! You’ll encounter each member of our team during your treatment with Smile101. So why not meet them earlier? There is a common misconception that you will only be seen by one member of staff during your treatment – when actually, you will be seen by everybody here in this list.
Receptionist / Administrator Job – Marketa Hrda:
My job is to meet and greet patients and their family members on arrival to the practice. Most of our patients self-check-in, but if they are new patients I would check them in, show them our waiting rooms and explain where the surgeries are. I have to make sure we have all relevant documents signed and completed. I am always trying to cheer our patients, especially the younger ones, on arrival and make them feel comfortable.
After a patient has been seen I book next appointment so it suits to the patient’s schedule.
In the case our clinic is running late I do my best to inform all patients both waiting and arriving that we are behind schedule.
My other tasks include answering the phone and emails, preparing day lists of patients for our clinicians, making sure all patients have booked a follow-up appointment and much more.
Practise Manager – Susie Wiggins:
My role in the practice is overseeing both the clinical and administrative aspects of helping to run the practice. I work closely with both Dr Chauhan and Dr Hekmat to try and ensure we have a smooth running and efficient environment for everyone
I aim to be available and approachable to all our patients and can often be seen helping out at reception.
Quite often you will meet me when you are a new patient either NHS or private when I discuss with your treatment plan, what options are available to you and what your journey will be like through your orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontic Therapist – Lisa Bruch & Angela Gadaleta:
Being able to work conjunction with and under the prescription of Dr Chauhan I have the privilege to treat patients in a calming, safe and friendly approach delivering high quality of dental care.
I will treat you at some point throughout your orthodontic journey alongside Dr Chauhan and Lisa whether it be your big day having your braces fitted, to adjusting your brace, or getting you out of discomfort to then the exciting day of having your braces off.
Having had braces myself I know what its like so please feel free to ask me any questions and I will be happy to help along with the rest of the Smile101 team.
Dental Nurse – Rosani Gurung:
As a dental nurse, my main task is to make sure that the day runs smoothly for both the patients, orthodontist and orthodontic therapists. The first thing I do when I am at the practice is to check the day list and prepare for the day making sure that all the equipment is running smoothly. My daily tasks include setting up the surgeries, making sure they are tidy and fully stocked. When the patient arrives in the surgery, I greet them and make sure the instruments are set up according to the treatment needed prior to the orthodontist instruction. As I am qualified to take radiographs, I take x-rays for patients if instructed to do so. I also give out oral hygiene instructions to the patient to ensure they are aware of the benefits and importance of good oral hygiene. Furthermore, I have the responsibility to maintain a high standard of infection control by following up-to-date guidelines and protocols.
Specialist Orthodontist – Dr Sheila Chauhan:

Dr Sheila Chauhan is principal of Smile 101 Specialist Orthodontic Centre Guildford.
Dr Chauhan graduated as a dentist first from Kings College London University of London then trained a further three years As a Specialist Orthodontist with a Masters & Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Dr Chauhan has over 20 years experience looking after smiles of children and adults
Her role is carried out a thorough clinical examination and provide the plan of how to improve your smile using braces. She will offer various options of braces most suitable to you from the conventional metal braces to ceramics ones that show less and the virtually invisible clears aligners
She will then hand over to one of our treatment coordinators to discuss the braces options in more detail. At the next appointment, the records and a digital scan of your teeth will be performed before you are booked for your braces fitting with one of our orthodontic therapists.
Dr Chauhan will oversee the whole treatment and come to visit you in the surgery from time to time when you’re booked with our therapist to ensure the teeth are progressing as planned.
We shall take progress photographs and assess your teeth to help us track your treatment progress. You are free to ask any questions and any member of the team will be happy to help.
